What affects the cost of gutter cleaning?
The main factors are how much guttering you have, how high it is, its condition and the trees around your property.
- Gutter length: longer runs take longer to inspect and clear. We calculate the combined length, not a separate minimum charge for each run.
- Height: ground-floor and bungalow gutters use the base rate. Higher gutters have a height allowance; mixed-height sections are calculated according to their lengths and floors.
- Build-up: gutters not cleared for 12 months or more, or never cleared, have an additional allowance on the first clean only.
- Trees and roof moss: leaves, seeds and moss washed from the roof can accumulate quickly and break down into dense, wet organic material. Tree-lined properties around New Alresford and Winchester may need more frequent attention.

Does gutter clearing include the downpipes?
No. A standard gutter clear removes debris from the gutter channels; clearing a blockage inside a downpipe is not included. This also applies to scheduled Care Plan visits.
Is a regular Care Plan cheaper than a one-off gutter clear?
Yes. Ongoing scheduled gutter maintenance receives a 15% Care Plan saving compared with equivalent one-off visits. It keeps your gutter visits booked in for the year, with one-off cleaning still available if that suits you better.
- Most properties need one planned gutter clear each year, usually in autumn.
- Heavy tree cover, roof moss or significant seasonal debris may make a second visit worthwhile.
- An overdue first clean is priced separately from the regular plan visits. We recommend a sensible schedule for the property, not more visits than necessary.
When is the best time to have gutters cleared?
Autumn is the most common time. Once leaves begin falling, gutters can fill quickly, particularly beneath mature trees. For many homes, one well-timed visit after substantial leaf fall is sufficient.
- A spring visit can help where tree cover is heavy, roof moss regularly falls into the gutters or they fill particularly quickly.
- If your gutters are already overflowing, do not wait for autumn. The right frequency depends on the property and its surroundings.
What happens if gutters are left full?
Full gutter channels can overflow over the front or rear edge and repeatedly wet the roofline or walls below. Wet, compacted leaves and moss can also become surprisingly heavy.
- Regular clearing is preventative maintenance: it removes accumulated debris and allows developing issues to be spotted during inspection.
Can I get a gutter cleaning price without a site visit?
Yes. For most standard properties, our online gutter tool calculates an indicative price from the length and height of your guttering without arranging a survey first. Trace your gutter runs on the property map, answer a few questions and receive your quote.
- Your property details are checked before work is booked. Conservatory gutters and any unusual access requirements need separate confirmation.
